Volunteer Spotlight:Children's Author Doreen Cronin
This Halloween, author Doreen Cronin visited the Brooklyn Hospital PATH Center to read her
bestselling children´s book, Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type and the recently released Click, Clack, Boo! Doreens books are fan favorites, and Click, Clack, Boo brought a festive Halloween spirit to the event.
The children attending the program dressed up in costumes and read the Halloween-inspired story
along with Doreen, even acting out the sound effects! After the reading, both kids and parents were
excited to line up to have their books signed by the author.
Since 2008, Doreen has been volunteering and bringing joy to patients in medical facilities
throughout the New York area. Eunice Cruz, Child Life Specialist at the PATH Center, thanks Doreen "for
an amazing book reading. We had a great turn out and the kids had a wonderful time making animal
puppets. We truly enjoyed Doreen."
Doreen equally enjoyed her time there. "The best Halloween treat I got this year was spending time
reading and laughing with the kids at Brooklyn Hospital Center with Project Sunshine. The kids brought
their best costumes, big smiles and their spookiest sound effects to the readings - making them bigger
and better than ever. Of course, we took some scary Halloween selfies, too!" Doreen exclaimed.
Thanks to Doreen´s visits, pediatric patients in New York City have been inspired to read, write, and
illustrate books during their hospital stays and beyond.
