Volunteer Spotlight: Emilio Delgado

August 8, 2017

Emilio Delgado, who has played Luis on Sesame Street for 40 years, entertained pediatric patients at Brooklyn Hospital on June 28th as a part of Project Sunshine's Book Club. He read Sonia Manzano's first picture book No Dogs Allowed! Three Project Sunshine staff and volunteers assisted the pediatric patients to actively listen and point to characters and objects named in the book.

The children got to keep books. They also received music kits, including decorate your own maracas, cardboard ukulele and markers. After the children decorated their music instruments, Emilio ended the program by playing his guitar. The children were encouraged to play and sing along. Both the children and the caregivers had tons of fun and eagerly lined up to take a family photo with Emilio.
