Volunteer Spotlight: UnitedHealth Group South Florida

This May, Project Sunshine had a strong presence at the AARP Life@50+ National Expo thanks to volunteers from UnitedHealth Group. UnitedHealth Group volunteers set up an interactive booth where senior citizens attending the expo created Sunny Gram cards to send to local children´s hospitals in South Florida. At the expo, held in honor of Older Americans Month, UnitedHealth Group employees volunteered to improve the lives of senior citizens. The seniors had the opportunity to make Sunny Grams, allowing them to share warm wishes with young patients and feel connected to their community.

The volunteers were led by Marla Stock, a dedicated Project Sunshine Chapter Leader since early 2014. As Chapter Leader, Marla leads a group of UnitedHealth Group employee volunteers at Joe DiMaggio Children´s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. Marla explains her dedication to Project Sunshine: "Who doesn´t love children? It´s all about the children in my book, and there isn´t a better way to show how I care than volunteering my time with Project Sunshine!"

The Senior Citizen volunteers shared in Marla´s excitement and showed how they care, making over 500 Sunny Grams for Project Sunshine children in the Sunshine State!
