Volunteer Spotlight: American Express

Each April, Project Sunshine celebrates National Volunteer Month! Points of Light, the world´s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, states that this time of year is "about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities."

This month, American Express will do just that. American Express employees in New York will assemble Earth Day Craft Kits for Project Sunshine´s partner hospitals for the fourth consecutive year. Each year, these one of a kind Craft Kits allow American Express to tie together two of its social responsibility priorities. From making a recycling chart, to decorating a reusable tote bag, these craft kits allow Project Sunshine patients to learn about and celebrate Earth Day with a green activity, even when removed from the classroom.

Anthony Sanchez, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at American Express, remarks that "Project Sunshine allows us to offer our employees a chance to donate their time and make a difference in the greater community. The fact that we are able to tailor this Sending Sunshine event to incorporate Earth Day and American Express´s sustainability initiatives engages our employees in a unique and exciting way."

Project Sunshine thanks American Express volunteers for working in the true spirit of National Volunteer Month to creatively engage the children and families of Project Sunshine with Earth Day Craft Kits for yet another successful year!
