Volunteer Spotlight: UnitedHealth Group heARTS Parties

This February, Project Sunshine children and families had many reasons to smile. For the past three years, UnitedHealth Group employees have celebrated Heart Health Month with Project Sunshine by hosting HeARTS Party Time events across the country. Thanks to the generous time and support of UnitedHealth Group volunteers, patients celebrated the holiday at Mount Sinai Kravis Children´s Hospital in New York, Children´s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, Childrens Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and Texas Scottish Rite!

Volunteers entertained the patients with Valentines Day and "Frozen" themed activities. Crafts ranged from prince and princess crowns to heart shaped pillows and photo clips; attendees made their own trail mix at a trail mix bar, and some even made marshmallow Olafs! Project Sunshine kids and volunteers, who are kids at heart too, posed in the goofy photo booth with "Frozen" characters and other silly props! Adding to the excitement, Project Sunshine volunteer Miss USA, Nia Sanchez, a princess in her own right, jumped right into the fun at Mount Sinai. Additionally, Patients at Texas Scottish Rite had a great time meeting Dallas Cowboys Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox!

Eighty-seven UnitedHealth Group employees, spread sunshine to over 650 children and families! Thank you to UnitedHealth Group´s wonderful volunteers for brightening the days of so many deserving patients and their families.
