Volunteer Spotlight: UnitedHealth Group Heart Health Month
In honor of American Heart Month, dedicated UnitedHealth Group volunteers threw HeARTS parties for children in local hospitals nationwide in February.
The parties offered children and families a variety of arts and crafts activities, photo booths, face painting, and Sunshine Chefs cooking lessons to
relieve the stress of their hospital visits.
These Project Sunshine volunteers and, in some cases, special celebrity guests participated in Chicago, New York, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Boston and Dallas. At
Franciscan Hospital for Children in Boston, volunteers were accompanied by soccer players from The New England Revolution where they set up a special wheelchair
obstacle course. The Dallas Cowboys visited the party at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, giving the children a chance to meet NFL players. Miss Teen
USA, donning her sash and tiara, joined the party at Mount Sinai Kravis Childrens Hospital in New York.
"UnitedHealth Group´s relationship with Project Sunshine aligns with our mission of helping people lead healthier lives, and provides an opportunity to
harness the power of our amazing workforce and their passion for volunteering," said Tom Quirk, CEO, UnitedHealthcare of North Texas. At HeARTS parties
this month, these passionate UnitedHealth Group volunteers brought Sunshine to the lives of 800 children and families facing medical challenges.
