Sunshine Boulevard Annual Benefit Celebration
On May 5, 2016, over 650 supporters, volunteers, and friends gathered at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan for Project Sunshine's 13th Annual Benefit Celebration, Sunshine Boulevard. The event was a tremendous success – raising over $1.3 MILLION to benefit Project Sunshine's programming for young patients and families facing medical challenges!
This year, Project Sunshine was very pleased to honor Susan DeVore, President and CEO of Premier, Inc., for her brilliant leadership in healthcare and dedication to improving the health of communities. Her work in driving significant change and growth in US healthcare systems is admirable. As leader of Premier, Susan unites an alliance of approximately 3,600 U.S. hospitals and 120,000 other providers to transform healthcare. She has helped Premier enable better care and outcomes at a lower cost. Under Susan's leadership, Premier has been recognized for building an industry–leading code of ethics; has been named nine times as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere; has won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award; and has been named four times to the InformationWeek 500 list of the top technology innovators in the nation. Project Sunshine commends Premier's commitment to innovation, quality, ethics, and patient–centered care.
Project Sunshine was so proud to present Kate Tylis with the 2016 Volunteer Appreciation Award. For over six years, Kate's devotion to the mission of Project Sunshine and special compassion for young patients has had an immense impact in transforming the pediatric hospital experience for thousands. Whether at bedsides, in playrooms, or in out–patient clinics, Kate brings a unique blend of wisdom, grace, and good humor to brighten the days of children in need. As a star volunteer leader, Kate mobilizes volunteers of all ages to engage in Project Sunshine's enrichment programming at several New York hospitals, including Harlem Hospital, where she is now Chapter Leader. Project Sunshine extends warm thanks to Ivana Man, Child Life Specialist at Harlem Hospital Center, for presenting the award to Kate during the evening program.
C. Hugh Hildesley, Vice Chairman of Sotheby's, led an exciting live auction featuring prizes from the New York Mets; Albany, Bahamas Resort; and Chef Michael White and Ai Fiori. WCBS' Cindy Hsu served as the evening's emcee, and pop crossover artist, Jackie Evancho, dazzled guests with her beautiful soprano voice during a special live musical performance.
Other special guests included television stars Ryan Serhant, Emilia Bechrakis, Jaime Erdahl, Andy Adler, Brenda Blackmon, Tamsen Fadal, Mr. G, Magee Hickey, John Muller, and Sesame Street cast members Jennifer Barnhart, Emilio Delgado, Sonia Manzano, Bob McGrath, Alan Muraoka, Roscoe Orman; Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach, and Miss USA, Olivia Jordan; and models Damaris Lewis, Alexandria Morgan, and Yulia Sparniiazova.
