Project Sunshine Week Highlights: May 3 - May 11, 2010
Starting on May 3, 2010 with proclamations from Governor David Paterson and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Project Sunshine kicked off and successfully ran its annual week of service culminating with the 7th Annual Benefit Celebration honoring Dr. Reed Tuckson, M.D., of UnitedHealth Group
Highlights of the week included:
New York Yankee catcher Francisco Cervelli and shortstop Ramiro Pina reading baseball themed books to hospitalized children at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The Empire State Building glowed yellow. NBA All-Star New York Knick David Lee and Sports Illustrated models Christine Teigen and Esti Ginzburg attended a special lighting ceremony to officially turn the lights yellow.
BTIG sponsored a Charity Trading Day with New York Giant David Diehl and
Meeting Professionals International sponsored a Double Decker Bus Tour of
Manhattan to give local Project Sunshine children a special chance to take in the sights.
Our Exclusive Partners Raised Awareness and Support including
Helen Ficalora who designed a 14k gold Sun Charm with 25% of proceeds going to Project Sunshine Week. A sterling silver Sun Charm has also been created with 100% of the proceeds benefitting Project Sunshine throughout the year.
LEIBER created a Project Sunshine key chain for sale exclusively in her Madison Avenue store, with a percentage of sales to go to Project Sunshine.
Olive & Bette’s boutiques donated 100 percent of proceeds from each “Sunflower Tee” sold in May in their four New York City locations.
Stuart Weitzman designed a sun jelly rain boot, “Splashy". 10% of proceeds from sales at the Madison Avenue store from the rain boot went to Project Sunshine during this week.
