Heart of Gold Annual Benefit Celebration
On April 28, 2015, over 500 friends and supporters gathered at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan for
Project Sunshine�s 12th Annual Benefit Celebration. The event was a wonderful success and raised over
$900,000 to benefit Project Sunshine�s programs for children and families facing medical challenges.
Damaris Lewis, Sports Illustrated model, �Muse� and touring dancer of famed musician Prince, style correspondent
for Turner Sports, and ardent volunteer was recognized for her �Heart of Gold� and received the Project Sunshine
Ambassador Award. Damaris is a dedicated Project Sunshine volunteer and mentor to 14-year-old Nakayla Prescod, who
has been in and out of the hospital her whole life with a chronic illness. The two have a very special bond, and
in a poignant moment, Nakayla presented Damaris her award at the event.
C. Hugh Hildesley, Executive Vice President of Sotheby�s, led a record-breaking live auction that featured
appearances on stage by Miss USA Nia Sanchez and celebrity chef and winner of Chopped, Palak Patel. WNBC�s
Cat Greenleaf and David Ushery were emcees for the event, entertaining the guests and introducing Grammy Award-Winning
artist Estelle, who gave a special featured musical performance, which roused the guests to their feet as they filled
the Waldorf dancefloor.
Other special guests included music industry icon Clive Davis; television stars Maurice DuBois, Magee Hickey,
Mr. G, Tamsen Fadal, Sharon Washington and Sesame Street cast members Emilio Delgado, Bob McGrath, Alan Muraoka,
Roscoe & Kimberley Orman; dancers Madeline Wong and Abdur-Rahim Jackson; Miss Teen USA K. Lee Graham; and model
Project Sunshine extends heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the event Co-Chairs,
Vice Chairs, Honorary Committee and Benefit Committee.
