Senior Nonprofit Management Intern - Corporate Relationships

Project Sunshine is seeking a recent college graduate to work for a growing, fast-paced nonprofit organization. The Senior Nonprofit Management Intern will gain leadership and management skills by engaging with and participating actively in the development and maintenance of Project Sunshine’s national corporate volunteer relationships.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Sending Sunshine activities for corporate volunteer groups:
    • Provide support for team coordinating in-office employee volunteer opportunities including ordering and shipping large quantities of supplies to corporate partners across the United States.
    • Coordinate with corporate partners to facilitate event logistics and collect program data.
    • Track and inventory incoming packages created by corporate volunteers to be sent to hospital partners.
    • Analyze feedback from hospital partners to determine the success of Project Sunshine’s program materials in the hospital setting and provide suggestions for improvements.
  • Support program events at hospitals and corporate offices
    • Assist in development and implementation of engaging programming in medical centers across the US to bring joy to hospitalized children and their families.
  • Support program staff in planning and execution of programs including coordination of large-scale events for hospitalized children and their family members.
  • Provide on-site support and event coordination to volunteer groups in NYC.
  • Develop specialty activities through research on the therapeutic needs of patient populations.
  • Work with team members to maintain and organize supply stock in office.
  • Support maintenance of program reporting and evaluation documents using Salesforce database.
  • Budget and track corporate program team spending; prepare expense reports.
  • Provide support to staff planning fundraising events.
  • Assist with office work/administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Project Sunshine.
  • Strong, written, organizational, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management.
  • The desire to learn about the nonprofit sector, corporate social responsibility and volunteer management.
  • High comfort level working with diverse populations of medically challenged children and their families in the hospital setting.
  • Event planning and volunteer experience a plus.
  • Candidates must be able to start in May 2017 and be willing to commit to 40 hours a week for six months.

Health and Creative Arts Program Intern

Project Sunshine is seeking dynamic, undergraduate college interns for the Summer of 2017 (end of May/beginning of June to mid-August) to work for a rapidly growing, fast–paced non–profit organization. This is an unpaid internship, but school credit is available upon request and review.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Support the Program Team in planning, organizing, and implementing hospital programs and corporate social responsibility events throughout New York City:
    • Manage and organize aspects of program supply orders – preparation, packing, inventory, and delivery Coordinate the distribution of craft kits, toys, books, and other donations to 300 partner pediatric medical facilities nationwide.
  • Research and create new program materials and informational modules for hospital programs, sample arts projects, and assist with the pilot of new programs.
  • Develop a variety of communication pieces (web, email) to inform, mobilize, and inspire Project Sunshine's volunteer networks to take part in campaigns.
  • Assist with general office work including running errands, answering phones, filing, assisting with special projects and fundraising events, and other roles as needed.

Qualifications

  • Self–motivated, good organizational skills, detail–oriented, ability to prioritize, multi–task and meet deadlines.
  • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet research).
  • Event planning, marketing, graphic design, and volunteer experience a plus.
  • The desire to learn about the nonprofit sector, volunteer management, and/or the arts and public health space.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Project Sunshine.
  • Candidates must be willing to commit to at least 10 hours a week or more.
  • Comfortable navigating public transportation within the NYC boroughs.
